If you find yourself in Los Angeles – or, more specifically, West Hollywood – on Christmas, count yourself as lucky! While many cities shut down for the holidays, WeHo is as buzzing as ever, offering up plenty for both locals and visitors to do.

Whether you’re looking for festive fun or would prefer to distract yourself from the holiday, here are a few options for Christmas Day and Night near Hotel 850 in West Hollywood CA.

Santa Monica Pier

Santa Monica Pier – just a short drive from West Hollywood – should be on any visitors bucket list, regardless of the time of year you visit. But, if you’re visiting over the Christmas period, it should be at the top of your to-dos.

Whether you’re traveling with your family, partner, or solo, there’s something for everyone to get involved in, from a retro arcade to bike rentals. In addition to these fun activities, there is also a range of restaurants and bars, some of which will be open on the day.

Grinchmas

While this will require you to drive (or hop in an Uber) from your accommodation in West Hollywood, this is a great way to spend the day, especially if you have kids to entertain.

Hosted at Universal Studios Hollywood, Grinchmas sees the grounds transformed into Who-Ville, with plenty of themed events based on the wonderful world of Dr. Suess.

If you’re more of a Potter fan, you’re in luck! You can also celebrate Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at the famous theme park with plenty of lights, music, and magic of course.

Make sure you book your tickets in advance!

Third Street Promenade

Just 30 minutes by car (or an hour by public transportation) from San Vicente Inn, West Hollywood, CA 90069, Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica (just around the corner from the pier) will remain open to the public on Christmas Day, guaranteeing plenty to eat, drink, and see.

For those keen to get into the holiday spirit, there will be an 8,000 square-foot ice-skating rink with all-day admission as well as a Menorah Lighting ceremony. Of course, this is in addition to the many bars, restaurants, and shops that line the streets. Expect festive fun for all.

Catch a movie

Like Chinese restaurants, movie theatres are famously always open on Christmas Day. After all, what’s better than a cozy theatre, plenty of popcorn, and a great, new movie?

Of course, ‘tis the season for new releases, with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Jumanji: The Next Level, 1917, and Spies in Disguise all coming out just in time for Christmas. There are a handful of theatres near Hotel 850 SVB, with varying showtimes at each. Make sure you check what’s on where and book tickets ahead of time, as Christmas night will be busy.

See? There’s plenty to do in West Hollywood over Christmas! Whether you’re celebrating or not, you won’t be short of a thing (or two!) to do on the 25th.
